The magic of the Moulin Jaune Garden is created and sustained by our volunteers. Gardening sessions take place every 2–3 months: volunteers care for the garden, learn landscape design, experiment, fool around, and help a lot. It’s a wonderful chance to step behind the scenes of the Moulin Jaune, to see the garden through the passing of days and seasons, to make it even more beautiful, to meet extraordinary people, and to enjoy a day of gardening.
To join the volunteer group, please write us at info@moulinjaune.com and tell us a bit about yourself and what you can do.
WHY COME TO THE GARDEN?
Become part of Slava’s garden-theater:
- Take part in the life of the garden, not just be a passing spectator. By helping out, you’ll share in the atmosphere of the Moulin Jaune, taste dishes from different cuisines, discover new projects, and meet fascinating people.
- Spend a day outdoors, by the water.
- Do some weeding, planting, and other gardening work — a true immersion into nature and into the many worlds of the Moulin Jaune Garden, a source of energy and inspiration.
- Contribute to the beauty of this unique garden.
The Moulin Jaune does not have a permanent gardening team. Each season, we invite both professionals and amateurs to work under the guidance of our landscape designers, who share their experience and practical tips.
Make new friends. Shared work often grows into longer collaborations — participation in events, creative residencies, and other projects.
We also sometimes host international volunteer groups. To encourage cultural exchange, gardening sessions for local and international volunteers are held at the same time.
WHAT DO WE DO?
Depending on the season, our landscape gardeners organize activities such as:
- planting,
- hand-weeding,
- pruning perennials and shrubs,
- planting bulbs and new plants,
- dividing root clumps, and much more.
No experience is required. Everyone is welcome — beginners and professionals, regulars and first-timers alike.
⚠️ These sessions are not suitable for children:
- children under 15 should choose another activity,
- teenagers should be sure they’re motivated to spend several hours working with their hands in the soil.
If you’re coming for the first time, plan to spend the whole day (from 9:30 a.m. to around 5:00 p.m., with a lunch break).
We only host day sessions; overnight stays or evening visits are generally not possible, especially the first time (with rare exceptions).
Later, friends of the Moulin Jaune may also take part in preparing and running public events.
HOW TO TAKE PART?
Send us an email with: when you’re available, who you are, where you live, and why you’d like to join.
Gardening sessions are open only to participants aged 15 and over (minors must be accompanied by an adult).
On the day, please bring:
- weather-appropriate clothing and shoes (rubber boots available if needed),
